College Football Playoff Predictions

1 Michigan vs 4 Alabama:

Michigan:

  • Michigan is undefeated and the unquestioned number 1 team in the nation. They have reached 13-0 by beating the likes of Penn State, Iowa and then number 1 Ohio State.

  • They have scored 30 or more points in all but two of their games this year and both of those were against top 10 defenses.

  • There offense is not where they make their money though. They held 9 opponents this year to 10 or fewer points. To put that in perspective, the 2021 Georgia Bulldogs also did that to 9 teams. And that is widely considered one of the greatest defenses in college football history. They have now had 7 people from that defense selected in the first round of the NFL draft. You only start 11 guys on defense.

  • This Michigan team is also playing as the villain because of the cheating scandal and Harbaugh's suspension earlier this year. They want it bad.

  • To start, I do not think they should be in. However, no one can say that they aren't a good team.

  • They started slow suffering a 10 point loss to Texas in Tuscaloosa and barely managing a victory against USF.

  • But since then they have been about as hot as you can get. They had the best strength of schedule among any team in the playoff. They have victories over 11 Ole Miss, 25 Tennessee, 13 LSU, 6 Georgia. They also defeated Auburn in the iron bowl on a miracle that has cemented itself in college football history already.

  • Once making the switch to QB Jalen Milroe once and for all they have found a groove and will likely prove to be very dangerous to Michigan.

  • If there is one thing we know about Alabama is that they have the talent to compete with anyone any year. This is no different. I expect a great game, but I truly do not know who will win.

Prediction: Alabama-27 Michigan-26

2 Washington vs 3 Texas

Washington:

  • The Washington Huskies are going to win the whole darn thing.

  • They have a passing attack better than any other in the nation led by none other than should-be-Heisman winner, former Indiana University hero, Michael Penix Jr.

  • He is now in his 6th year in college because he has spent the majority of his career rehabbing his knees from multiple ACL tears. He is a warrior and now that he is with the Huskies he is finally getting the credit he deserves.

  • This team is also 13-0 with a better strength of schedule than Michigan. They defeated a surprising Arizona team, a dominant Oregon team, a sneaky Oregon State in the regular season. Then they beat their little brothers the Ducks again as 9.5 point UNDERDOGS. Even though Washington has continued winning all season, people continue to sleep on them

  • This offense is capable of 60 point games, but even when it doesn't do that, the defense paces the style of play. Washington has dictated the style of most of their games.

  • This team just always just seems to come up with the play it needs, whether on the offensive or defensive side of the ball.

  • Also, Rome Odunze. I couldn't just not mention him. This guy really is Him. Just watch.

Texas:

  • I can't lie, I have not watched a lot of Texas this season. I watched their game against Alabama and well... they looked pretty good.

  • However, I also watched the game against OU, and that was less good. But I will cut them some slack on that since it is a rivalry game and a lot of stuff goes out the window on those.

  • But, still in that same line of thought, it is a little scary to see how they will perform in a big game.

  • Texas played a lot of close games this year and I had some reservations about that until their conference championship. They knew they needed to make a statement and they did. They completely dominated from the opening whistle against a ranked Oklahoma State in the Big XII Championship.

  • Overall, Quinn Ewers is an excellent QB and Texas is an extremely complete team.

I am really looking forward to this game. That said....

Prediction Texas-31 Washington-34

HORNS DOWNNNN!!!
